Officers with the Knox County Sheriff’s Office arrested a Pigeon Forge man on Tuesday for attempted first degree murder. 59-year-old Jerry Benton was taken into custody in South Knox County today following an incident that occurred earlier that morning. Benton is charged with attempted first degree murder, aggravated assault, and possession of a weapon as a convicted felon. He is being held in the Roger D. Wilson Detention Facility on a combined $235,000 bond. He has a criminal history in Knox County that includes possession of drug paraphernalia and fugitive from justice.
